If you provide us with personal data of other people, please make sure that those people know this privacy policy. Share their personal data with us only if you are allowed to do so and if the data are correct.

By using this website you agree to the conditions set out below.
The privacy policy applies to all ToDrive websites. For websites outside ToDrive that our pages link to, we cannot guarantee that data protection rules are observed.
Below we want to give you an overview of where data are collected and how they are handled.
Under Article 13 of the Swiss Federal Constitution, everyone has the right to privacy and to protection from misuse of their personal data. We process personal data under the revised Federal Act on Data Protection (DSG) and the Data Protection Ordinance (DSV), both in force since 1 September 2023. Where the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to a processing operation, we additionally meet its requirements.
Data security
We use technical and organisational security measures in line with recognised market standards to protect the personal data stored with us against unintended, unlawful or unauthorised manipulation, deletion, alteration, access, disclosure or use, and against partial or complete loss. The data are stored in Swiss data centres. The connection to our servers is SSL-encrypted. We back up customer data regularly. Our security measures are continuously adapted and improved in step with technological development. We accept no liability for the loss of data or for third parties learning of them and using them. Beyond that, we cannot guarantee the security of data transmission over the internet; in particular, when data are sent by e-mail there is a risk of third parties gaining access. Access is, however, protected by HTTPS.
Personal data and how they are collected
When you visit our website outside the login-protected area, the web server technology we use automatically logs general technical visit information. This includes, among other things, the IP address of the device used (which is, however, anonymised by Google before being stored, so that it can no longer be assigned to you; Google uses the _anonymizeIp() method for this), details of the browser type, of the internet service provider and of the operating system used.
In the course of our activity, data are collected and stored in various places by various programs and services. This happens, for example, when you use the contact form, or when Google Analytics stores your IP address in order to report behaviour on the website to us in aggregated form. We go into the different “data collectors” in more detail below.
We of course handle all of our data with care, but with a view to the GDPR it is personal data that are particularly relevant: above all name, address, telephone number and so on, but also your IP address and possibly even user names. In short, anything from which someone can draw conclusions about you as a person. Various social media analysis tools such as the Facebook pixel also read out particular target groups. The data we receive from the platforms are mainly age, approximate location and which device a given advertisement was shown to you on at a given time.
Data pointing to a company or an organisation are not included.
When you pass information on through our website, for example through the contact form or the comment function, please pay attention yourself to what that information is: do not write sensitive data into the comment function, and do not send us critical data through the contact form.
Purpose of the processing
The processing serves various purposes, which are also set out in detail below.
We process the data collected in order to keep improving the products and services you want, to manage your use of and your desired access to our applications, products and information, to maintain our business relationship with you, to monitor and improve the performance of our offering, to detect, prevent or investigate illegal activity, and to send you offers, information or marketing material about products or services which, on the basis of the data, we assume could be of interest to you. For processing, storage and use within the purposes named above, the data may also be passed on to partner companies and service providers, selected third-party companies, institutions and/or state authorities entitled by law, in Switzerland and abroad. Where personal information is processed or stored in countries that do not provide adequate data protection compared with Swiss data protection law, we require the processor, under a contractual obligation, to comply fully with the relevant provisions of the DSG or — where data of customers from the EU are concerned — of the GDPR.
Processing by third parties
For certain processing operations that support the purposes already named, we use the services of selected third parties (individuals or companies). The various parties are dealt with individually below.
It may also happen that these are located in countries outside Switzerland or even outside the EU. In such cases we make sure that the requirements of data protection are met.
Social media analysis tools let us identify particular target groups. Thanks to these data we can address precisely those people who are interested in a particular product or service. That allows us to avoid showing advertisements to people who are not interested in our products or services.
In exceptional cases, data may be passed to third parties where this is necessary to pursue our claims or where there is a legal obligation.
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, consent
You have the following rights with regard to your personal data. ToDrive expressly grants these rights contained in the GDPR to Swiss customers as well, so far as they do not already hold equivalent rights under the DSG:
the right of access under Article 15 GDPR,
the right to rectification under Article 16 GDPR,
the right to erasure under Article 17 GDPR,
the right to restriction of processing under Article 18 GDPR,
the right to data portability under Article 20 GDPR, and
the right to object under Article 21 GDPR.
The data collected are either deleted once their purpose is served or stored until revoked, so far as they are not subject to a retention duty. Details on requesting erasure and on storage can be found under the respective points.
Under Swiss law you have in particular the right of access (Article 25 DSG), the right to have your data released and transferred (Article 28 DSG) and the claims to rectification, erasure and objection (Article 32 DSG).
To exercise them, a message to info@todrive.ch or to the address named in the section “Controller” is enough. We answer your request as quickly as possible, as a rule within 30 days. For your own protection we may ask for proof of identity, so that we do not release data to an unauthorised person.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can turn to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (EDÖB), Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern, or take legal action.
Cookies in general
Cookies help to make your visit to our websites simpler, more pleasant and more useful. Cookies are information files that your web browser stores automatically on your computer’s hard disk when you visit our website and use our offering.
You can manage your browser’s security settings yourself and thereby block or deactivate the cookies we use, although certain ToDrive services may then no longer be usable (in full).
The purpose of the cookies is in particular to analyse the use of this website for statistical evaluation and for continuous improvement. Optimising the user experience is part of it too. So-called third-party cookies from providers such as Google Analytics are also used.
Contacting ToDrive & discussions
Our website offers you various ways of getting in touch with us, such as forms or the comment function.
The details you give are stored with us and used to deal with your request. Beyond that, the data are stored for internal purposes (for example evaluation, follow-up and documentation) and for possible further contact (further customer care, following up, asking for a review and so on). For internal purposes these data are therefore stored even after a working relationship has ended. We also allow ourselves, for example, to record notes about contact that is expressly not wanted, in order to prevent it.
Please do not pass on information that you would not want us or others to receive (above all in the public comment function). So do not send us sensitive data such as credit card details by e-mail or contact form, but by telephone instead.
Your data may be stored in various places, for example: in the e-mail program, on the website, in the backup, in our CRM program, on our own server or on that of our host Hostpoint, likewise stored securely in Switzerland.
Contact forms
All details you send us through the contact form or by e-mail are processed as described above. The data sent include those you submit in the mandatory and optional fields and in the message field. Your IP address is also stored.

Driving school profiles and the placing of enquiries
The driving school comparison is the core of what we offer. In doing so we process personal data in three contexts, which we describe individually below.
Driving school profiles
Driving schools and driving instructors can run a profile on todrive.ch. The details held there — name of the driving school, address, telephone numbers, e-mail address, website, prices, vehicles, languages spoken, payment methods, and the names and photographs of the driving instructors — are publicly visible by design. That is precisely the purpose of a profile. Anyone running a profile must therefore expect these details to be picked up by search engines as well.
In addition we take over publicly accessible reviews from the driving school’s Google Business Profile and show them with the profile.
A user account belongs to each profile. For it we store first and last name, e-mail address, telephone number and the password in encrypted form. Driving schools can have the profile and the account deleted at any time; an informal message to info@todrive.ch is enough.
Enquiries from learner drivers
Anyone enquiring with a driving school through todrive.ch gives their name, telephone number and e-mail address, together with the vehicle category wanted, the preferred way of being contacted, the urgency and a message. We also store the IP address and the time of the enquiry, in order to detect misuse.
We forward these details to the driving school being asked. That is the purpose of your enquiry, and in making it you instruct us to do so. From the moment of forwarding, the driving school is independently responsible for the further handling of your data; we cannot answer for that. We pass enquiry data to no further recipients, and we do not sell them.
Profile view counts
For each profile we count the page views per week. Only that number is stored, with no link to individual visitors.
Comment functions
With the comment functions we make it possible for you to get in touch with us and, above all, to discuss and comment on individual blog posts.
To make the user experience a more positive one, we ask for a user name, which also allows people to be recognised in longer discussions.
We also ask for the e-mail address, on the one hand to reduce fake enquiries and on the other to have a way of getting in touch, for example in the case of a potential customer contact, or if the person behind it has to be identified for legal reasons.
Details entered in the comment field are also stored and where applicable published on the website. Take particular care here not to publish sensitive data about yourself. You are welcome to use a fictitious user name.
Your comments are stored on our website and secured in backups. As an important part of the content, comments are stored and published without a time limit.
If we see a need to get in touch (potential customer), we allow ourselves to store the details in our CRM and similar systems as well.
Communication by e-mail and/or newsletter
If you would like to receive a newsletter offered on our website, we need an e-mail address from you and other information allowing us to check that you are the holder of the address given and that you agree to receive the newsletter (“double opt-in” procedure).
With the newsletter you regularly receive recommendations and offers that could interest you. For this we collect and process personal data about how you use our website and ToDrive, and how you use our newsletters (for example whether you open the newsletter or which web links you click). We evaluate these data for statistical purposes, in order to match the content of the newsletters better to your interests.
The processing of the personal data entered in the newsletter sign-up form is based on your consent, which you can revoke at any time with effect for the future. Revocation is done through the “unsubscribe” link in the newsletter. We use the personal data collected from you to put together and send the newsletters.
We store the personal data you have given us for the purpose of receiving the newsletter until you unsubscribe from it.
Sending our e-mails
System messages — for instance the notification of a driving school about a new enquiry, or confirmation e-mails — are sent through the service Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) of Sendinblue SAS, based in Paris, France. Brevo processes the recipient address and the message content solely on our behalf and on our instructions. The processing takes place in the European Union, for which an adequate level of data protection is recognised.
We keep a log of the sending, with recipient address, subject, content and time of the message. It serves as proof of delivery and for troubleshooting.
IP check
The information sent through the IP tool is used for the agreed purpose (for example setting filters in Google Analytics). For record-keeping purposes it is stored with us until revoked (among other places in the e-mail program and in our backups).
We assume that the information sent to us is non-personal data, since we are acting in a business context.

Processing at Google
This website uses Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website (including your IP address) is transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.
Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity for website operators and to provide further services connected with website use and internet use. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required by law or where third parties process the data on Google’s behalf.
Google will under no circumstances connect your IP address with other data held by Google. By using this website you agree to the processing of the data collected about you by Google in the manner and for the purpose described above (Google Analytics terms).
Any personal data are deleted or anonymised after 14 months.

IP masking / anonymisation
As the website operator, we have also arranged for your IP address to be anonymised. Thanks to IP masking, your IP address is altered in such a way that no conclusion about you as a person is possible. All other data, such as location and so on, can therefore also be recorded in a way that cannot be connected to you as a person without the IP address.
We use the aggregated, anonymised data from Google Analytics for example to improve the website’s performance or to evaluate our marketing activities.

Google Ads
As part of our marketing activities we use Google Ads to show internet users advertisements in various places on the web and in various formats. In principle we process no personal data in doing so; for details, see the information on advertising at Google.
For various functions, however, cookies are set on our pages or on third-party pages and used to display advertising material better (see below).
Remarketing
This website uses Google’s remarketing function. This function serves to present visitors to the website with interest-based and therefore more efficient advertisements within the Google advertising network. When you visit our website, the visitor’s browser stores cookies (definition see above) which make it possible to recognise the visitor when they call up websites belonging to Google’s advertising network. On those pages, visitors can then be shown advertisements relating to content they previously called up on websites that use Google’s remarketing function.
These cookies may also be set by third parties such as Doubleclick and similar providers.
Google stores various non-personal information in the process, for example about the browser or the pages visited, as well as the IP address — anonymised on our side. According to Google, the information collected may be combined by Google with further information from other sources. In principle, however, the data are used anonymised unless express consent has been given to Google.

ToDrive uses the product Google Maps of Google Inc. in order to show you maps of locations and to give you a quick link to Google Maps, for example for planning a route (improving the user experience).
Google Maps collects and processes, for example, the IP address or location information. By using this website you agree to the collection, processing and use of the automatically collected data by Google Inc., its representatives and third parties. ToDrive has no influence on this data transfer.

In your browser or in the settings of your mobile device you can set various privacy options, for example for location detection. ToDrive uses Google Fonts. In order to embed the typefaces used, a connection to the Google server is established when the website is called up, and the server returns the correct typeface.

Google reCaptcha
ToDrive uses Google reCaptcha on the website in order to reduce the number of spam enquiries. We have chosen the reCaptcha that only requires a confirmation by the user, so as to keep the site as easy to use as possible.
Using reCaptcha does, however, mean that Google recognises and processes certain data, above all the IP address. Further information about the browser and, where applicable, browsing behaviour and so on can also be collected and, especially if you are signed in to Google, linked by Google with other data.

These days social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Co. are important in areas such as marketing & analysis, winning customers, customer care and service. We therefore also make use of what the various social networks offer.

Some social networks record a wide variety of information for as long as you are signed in as a user, for example which websites you call up. For details, see the individual data protection and usage provisions of the respective social networks. If you want to prevent this, please check your privacy settings for the network in question. You can also sign out of the network and delete its cookies.
Social media on our websites
Our digital offerings are connected in many ways with third-party functions and systems, for instance through the embedding of plug-ins of third-party social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and so on. If you have a user account with these third parties, they may also be able to measure and evaluate your use of our digital offerings. Further personal data, such as the IP address, browser settings and other parameters, may be transmitted to these third parties and stored there. We have no control over the use of personal data collected in this way by third parties and accept no responsibility or liability for it. Nor does ToDrive have detailed knowledge of which data are transmitted to the third-party providers, where they are transmitted to, and whether they are anonymised.
Plugins from YouTube are integrated on our website. The provider is YouTube LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA.
The YouTube plugin establishes a connection to YouTube’s servers. In doing so, the YouTube server is told which of our pages you have visited.
If you are logged in to your YouTube account, YouTube can assign your browsing behaviour directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube user account.

On ToDrive you will find various places where you can interact with the social media channels and, for example, share content.
If you use the share functions, and especially if you are logged in with your account for the channel in question, various information is sent to the operator of the channel or picked up by them and linked with your user account. The third-party providers may also set cookies.
Please note the respective data protection provisions and settings (see above). Please also bear in mind that social networks may be able to follow your browsing behaviour for as long as you are logged in.
Communication on social media channels
As part of marketing measures, customer loyalty and customer service, communication and possibly an exchange of data also take place on various social networks, such as on our Facebook page.
Here too, the data protection provisions of the respective channels apply (see above for details). In the interest of your own data protection we ask you not to send us any sensitive data within these channels (for example as a comment), since we have no influence on how the individual networks handle such data. We are happy instead to contact you directly by e-mail or by telephone.
If you share information about yourself and your request within the social networks (for example name, contact details and so on) which is relevant for us and our business activity (for example to get in touch and start a customer relationship, support enquiries and so on), we process it as described under “Contacting ToDrive”.
Technologies for advertising purposes
Our website uses the functions of Google Analytics Remarketing in combination with the cross-device functions of Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
This function makes it possible to link the advertising target groups created with Google Analytics Remarketing with the cross-device functions of Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick. In this way, interest-based, personalised advertising messages that were adapted to you on one device (for example a mobile phone) on the basis of your earlier use and browsing behaviour can also be shown on another of your devices (for example a tablet or PC).
If you have given Google the corresponding consent, Google links your web and app browsing history with your Google account for this purpose. In this way the same personalised advertising messages can be delivered on every device on which you sign in with your Google account.
To support this function, Google Analytics collects google-authenticated IDs of users, which are temporarily linked with our Google Analytics data in order to define and create target groups for cross-device advertising.
You can object permanently to cross-device remarketing by deactivating personalised advertising in your Google account at https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/.

Our website also uses the online advertising program Google AdWords. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
Within Google AdWords we use what is known as conversion tracking. When you click on an advertisement placed by Google, a cookie for conversion tracking is set. Cookies are small text files that the internet browser places on your computer. These cookies lose their validity after 30 days at the latest and do not serve to identify you. If you visit our website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and we can see that you clicked on the advertisement and were forwarded to this page.
Google tells us the total number of users who clicked on our advertisement and were forwarded to our website carrying a conversion tracking tag. We receive no information, however, with which we could identify you personally.
You can prevent cookies from being stored by setting your browser software accordingly; we point out, however, that in that case you may not be able to use all functions of this website in full. You can also prevent the tracking by deactivating the Google conversion tracking cookie in the user settings of your internet browser.

Our website additionally uses Facebook’s visitor action pixel; the provider is Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA.
The Facebook pixel makes it possible to follow the behaviour of page visitors after they have been forwarded to our website by clicking on a Facebook advertisement. This allows the effectiveness of Facebook advertisements to be evaluated for statistical and market research purposes, and future advertising measures to be optimised.
The data collected are anonymous for ToDrive; we cannot draw any conclusions about your identity. The data are, however, stored and processed by Facebook, so that a connection to the respective user profile is possible and Facebook can use the data for its own advertising purposes in line with the Facebook data use policy. This allows Facebook to deliver advertisements on Facebook pages and outside Facebook. ToDrive has no influence on this use of the data.
You can object permanently to the remarketing by deactivating the remarketing function “Custom Audiences” in the advertisement settings at https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences/?entry_product=ad_settings_screen. To do so you must be signed in to Facebook.

Business-related processing
In the course of our business activity we also process contract data, payment data and so on that are necessary for smooth cooperation with our customers and for our services.
The data are also used for internal purposes (evaluations, analyses, marketing purposes, service, customer care and so on). This includes processing within administration, organisation and financial accounting, and for the purpose of secure archiving.
Information about customers, suppliers, partners and so on — which is mainly company-related data — is in principle stored permanently.
In this context the data may be passed on to fiduciaries, auditors and so on, or those parties may be given access to them.
How long data are stored
ToDrive stores and processes your personal data for as long as you use the service. Note that the contractual relationship is a continuing obligation designed to last for years.
Once the data are no longer needed to fulfil contractual or legal duties, they are deleted at regular intervals, unless their further processing — for a limited period — is necessary.
For the driving school comparison in detail: profile and account data of a driving school remain stored for as long as the profile exists, and are deleted on request. Enquiries from learner drivers and messages sent through the contact form are kept for as long as they are needed to deal with the matter and to clarify follow-up questions. Newsletter addresses are stored until unsubscription. After deletion, data may still be contained in technical backup copies for a short transitional period; these are overwritten in the normal cycle.
Links to other websites
The ToDrive website contains hyperlinks to websites of third parties which are not operated or controlled by us. ToDrive is not responsible for their content or for their data protection practices.
Changes to this privacy policy
ToDrive may adapt this privacy policy at any time without prior notice. The version currently published on the ToDrive website applies. Where the privacy policy forms part of an agreement with you, we will inform you of an update by e-mail or in another suitable way.
